How often do we as parents schedule a playdate with our own kids? For my family, vacations sometimes serve as playdates – but with school and work schedules and other commitments and responsibilities to negotiate, sometimes it’s hard to schedule.
If I were planning the ideal playdate, I’d love to take the kids (and husband) to Florida and let them explore the sandy shores of Clearwater, Fla. — where the sand is so white and soft they just might mistake it for powdered sugar. Then after we’ve had our beach time, we could go to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium to see Winter and the other dolphins and marine animals that have been rescued, and explore the aquarium. The kids would love to take the Sea Life Safari Boat Tour, a 90-minute trip where they could look for dolphins, sea birds and other marine life.
We’d stay in a high-rise hotel on the beach, where the kids can push the elevator buttons and ride up and down to their hearts’ content. Then we’d settle into our room, change into pajamas and watch a movie while eating popcorn in bed. Everyone would stay up way past their bedtime and sleep late the next morning.
If you’re like us and haven’t had a family playdate in, well, ever, you may be in luck! Hyundai is sponsoring an Epic Playdate Weekend on April 27 from 9am-5pm in Santa Barbara, Calif. Several well-known bloggers will be camping on the beach and hosting epic workshops for kids, such as an ice cream sundae bar, a paint fight, a kids’ photography class, a hula-hooping workshop, and more.
Want in on the fun? The weekend is currently invite-only, but there’s still a chance you could attend! Hyundai is having a sweepstakes where you can win a trip for four to Hyundai’s Epic Playdate Weekend. Note: You must have a Pinterest account to enter (go to http://clvr.li/X4rpgE for complete details) and you must choose Clever Girls Collective when the form asks “How did you hear about us?”
